Hybrid accord review.

"upscale" as the new civic maybe... its basic premise is the same... its an economy car. The HCH is no less an economy ,car, its just loaded with techy stuff.

Economy cars should only have just enough power, no power windows, doors, etc. A/C optional... AM radio optional... and get good fuel economy.

I dont see it doing anything that well.. its bigger than it should be, its too expensive, too decked out, etc. Its not an economy car anymore.

47 MPG is nice, but Ill ait until the diesel accord arrives and gets about the same (and the two cars are practiacally the same size anyway).

I don't think the Yaris will get 47 MPG -- unless you set the cruise at 50 downhill. But yeah, I'd never pay that much for a Civic. Now the Accord Hybrid on the other hand: 0-60 in the low 6s --- way different story than Civic.

A majority of the Hybrid buyer here in the state buy them to get in the carpool lane in traffic. Accord and Camry Hybrid, as well as Escape Hybrid and those GM fake Hybrid like Silverado, are not qualified.

I don't have the MT on my 06 V6 Accord, but 0 to 60 in under 6 secs....wow. I didn't know that, nor have I tried it. May have to just to see if that's right. With an AT, should hit 0 to 60 in about 7 secs. Wow. Been awhile since I've felt that kind of pull.

It doesn't cost that much more to add FM, or a CD player for that matter, and it can cost more to produce an AM-only radio if the only car it's going in is your econobox model.

Why can't they just start selling the (reportedely very good, and very fuel efficient) Honda Accord DIESEL here?

This hybrid nonsense completely does not make sense.

Honda has a nice deisel engine over in Europe for the Accord. Not sure if it's a 4cyl or not but I'd much rather have that. More power, more mpg and possibly more durability.

You're right. If you opt out of a radio in a jeep you get (I think) a $750 credit (includes antenna, sound bar, and worhtless front speakers) ..it's only another $175 for the CD player, IIRC.

Where are the bean counters when they buy the sound systems

Those hybrids are not living up to their numbers, they are expensive, and after the factory warranty they may be worth less than non-hybrid models, way less. Smaller cars like the Fit and Yaris might just be cheaper to own and feed over the same period of time and mileage, give you more options for service and be easyer to resell or trade in on that next car.

I think the word yawn applies to all Honda as a whole with the exception of Civic SI and S2000. However most people do not care as Honda and Toyota sells so what do I know.

Because Americans are stoopit, lazy and we will NOT buy a Diesel car, no matter the fuel mileage until there's 100k of them on the road and EVERY single owner is bragging about them to their friends.

Besides, when a diesel car is sold in this country, the manufacturer thinks they have a gold mine and charges WAY TOO MUCH for them, making the break-even point too high.

Ala the Hybrid Accord. That thing takes 250k miles to break even versus a 4 cylinder. What do you have then? A 12+ year old car with 250k miles on it.

I checked Edmunds and it doesn't appear that it's possible to opt out of a radio in the 2006 Wrangler.

The cheapest radio option I'm aware of in recent history, besides no radio (which is hard to find anymore), is Ford's "ELC" (extremely low cost) radio that they were putting in police Crown Vics. No cd or tape player, but it still had FM (and AM of course). I don't know how much this saved over the regular radio option.

You appear to be correct. The jeep "build you jeep" doesn't have a radio delete option anymore.

And a formerly 15k SE now starts at 19k too
