In looking for a decent air powered grinder, I came across Husky air tools at Home Depot. Their price seems to be around the price of HF tools of a similar nature. I am looking also at Craftsman and Ingersol Rand; both are more than double the price. Has anyone used any Husky air tools that would care to comment on their performance and longevity? Realizing that you get what you pay for (sometimes), I would assume that they are of Cjhinese origin and that steps are taken to cut costs.

I was given a Husky air hammer for Christmas but have not used it yet.

HF and Husky have some decent tools. But don't expect a good impact wrench from HF for $19.

If you want better quality than HF/Husky go to IR but expect to pay more.

IR's top 1/2" impact wrench has more torque than most other 3/4" wrenches at less weight.

I will say, since I got my Dewalt cordless impact wrench (300 ft lbs) I have yet to get out my pneumatic wrench.

In addition if you spent $100 at HF, and were a shade tree mechanic I doubt you would ever have a problem with the wrench as long at you kept it oiled.

Some of the HF air tools are very good.

Specifically, the Earthquake branded impacts. They're made in Taiwan and have very good reviews.

I have the 3pc set of Husky air tools. Set contains the impact gun, smaller 3/8 ratchet and air chisel. I picked them up for around $100 about 12 years ago. They are reasonable tools. The impact gun only has 250 ft lbs of torque. I used an Ingersol Rand 1/2 inch impact gun for a timing belt job. It was a great gun, but as mentioned was over $250. I picked up an HF earthquake 1/2 inch gun for about $65 which is comparable in performance to the IR.

Depending on what you need that set could fit your needs.

Regards, JC.
