Hey Y'all,

Just got power back, in FL.

Had a 60 Hour Power Outage and the old reliable Honda EU2000i saved the day, have had her for 10 years now but had very little hours. I have a 6 gallon External tank which I attached with a quick connect and just forgot about it. She didn't skip a beat.

Ran 24/7 continuously:

Fridge
TV
Freezer Chest
2x Fans
1 CPAP Machine
1 Light Fixtures
Charged Phones, Laptops, and Tablets

After the 60hr run with HPL NO VII 5W-30 in the machine, I decided to dump and add HPL 5W-30 NO VII HPL again. The gennie didn't burn any oil. Previous fill for the first 31 Hours of operation was Rotella T4 10W-30

God bless those Line Men who worked continuously to get us back up and running.

Nice! We need some details please.

Hour meter as mentioned and how hooked up. How much oil does it hold? Full setup details of the external tank? How many gallons did it use during those 60 hours?

I have a couple friends planning on generators and nice and small (though not inexpensive), portable with long run time setup is nice.

Did you plug direct to generator or do you have a transfer switch setup at the panel?

as Ausfahrt mentioned above, i also tapped into the 12 V DC output at the front.

here's the video i followed a few years back.

i purchased the extended run tank set up from MRI DENVER:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-EU20...GAL-EXTENDED-RUN-PACKAGE-/122441950519?_ul=IL

i had a bunch of extensions, because i just purchased the home. i will be putting a standby gen to power the entire house soon.

gallons: i estimate used a little over 7 gallons during those 60 hours. i had a few jerry cans full and am quite happy with how she saves fuel. i have a Big WINCO gennie in my caribbean vacation home that uses 7 gallons, in 8 hrs run time LOL.

the standby gennie that i'm looking at is prob a Briggs 20kw NG setup unless someone convinces me otherwise

i added a youtube video at the bottom of page :)

i trust these little Honda's, maybe the EU2200 is a good option for long term. value wise, maybe the Predator??

I have been and still am running my 2004 power boss 5600. No oil burning will change oil after this mess is over.
Will get maxlife 10w 30

7 gallons for 60 hrs
🙂
Mine used about 2 gallons every 5 hrs from what I see.
1 hrs at a gas station this a.m. for gas sucked

Broken in now. Glad to hear you made it through Milton and the gen provided some power. I've always installed an hour meter the same way via charging wire.

At 10 years of age, you might consider replacing the cam belt. It's a wet-belt design. It's also kind of a big job; have to split the crankcase.
I am in favor of maintenance, but experience shows that these things go a long time before failure. If it fails, the engine will not be damaged as it is a non interference engine. I have a 20 year old unit with about 400 hours on it and have not done this. I have added in a predator generator so I have a fallback if the Honda fails. There are videos that show the belt replacement job and it is not easy.
