This is definitely becoming the normal routine now. Nobody is taking plywood off windows around here since they are sick of taking them down and putting them back up.

The beaches in Pensacola got demolished!

Hang in there guys.

Wind gets to a gusty 70MPH here about two nights per year and we think the world is getting blown away.

I can't imagine what you are going through.

I just read where IVAN hit Pensacola a hospital had 157 dead. These are killer storms the piles of trees are laying everywhere from the other Hurricane (Frances)they are going to fly everywhere during the storm. The Insurance guy was here yesterday and said they will have to replace my whole roof and repaint the entire inside and put that popcorn stuff back on the ceiling. That is if this next one doesn't finish me off completely.I'll be glad when hurricane season is over.

dropitby,
Here's a news article from AP that might help set the record straight on a few things.

Rumors Swirling After Florida Hurricanes

Here's the last few paragrahps of the news story:
quote:

Pensacola News-Journal opinion editor Carl Wernicke fielded some of the rumor calls after Ivan and finally wrote a column this week debunking them.

"For some reason, people always think there's a real story out there that they're not getting," he said.

The atrocious anecdotes included a tornado killing 157 people when it tore the roof off a local hospital (that one came from the wife of a sheriff's deputy), a 40-foot tidal wave washing bodies into a river, and morgue workers secretly preparing hundreds of bodies for burial.

Ivan and its aftermath killed 23 people in Florida. Charley claimed 31 lives in Florida.

"Often we will accept those claims that in any other situation would be kind of ludicrous," said Fine, the Northwestern professor. "To suggest that the government is stockpiling bodies is not the kind of thing Floridians would have thought plausible two months ago."

Here's the link to Mr. Wernicke's editorial: Ivan swept our reality away with the wind

Things are bad enough without listening to rumors.

I'd suggest checking out the on-line editions of various Florida newspapers to find out what is really happening.

I will agree the press & media gets in a frenzy during this time of disaster.I heard it on the radio and a lot more but the death toll in the path of Jenne exceeded all the hurricanes so far. I shouldn't say that because how could they have a body count so fast its more fear and hype than anything else. The level of the truth has gone to extreams in both directions on reporting the news I am sure.Well I have to huddle around my oil supply with my family while my roof gets taken off.
