Hurricane Debby

Well last night sealed the weather forecast, even though we didnt get as much as they said, they started to get close.
First off, since this was drawn out over a 3+day period, Vs 36 hours of a hurricane, other than flooded streets in the low lands here no water in homes, Meaning my community which has and is being built for the last 20 years. What is even nicer is our home built last year and all homes in this new section are the latest building standards including elevation.

So last night dumped another 2.5 inches.
Since Tuesday on this Friday morning my back yard rain gauge measured EXACTLY 1 foot of rain.

My note pad as I took readings every morning so far. I think we may get more today, oh heck much this summer has been a wash, even for the next 7 days will be threats of thunderstorms.

This is my hometown this morning: Northern Cambria, PA. The West Branch of the Susquehanna River flows through town and floods the low area occasionally . The river is passing under the bridge you see and between the white building and football field. That little town had worse flooding than we did down here despite much more rain fell down here .

Well, spoke too soon. The Ashley river has hit the highest ever recorded. Edisto is flooding also. Realize we had the supposed "1000 year flood" in 2015 and this is supposedly worse. Flooding is very local. Nothing in my neighborhood - yet at least. Very sad - the people loosing everything don't look like they can afford to.

People get into the Cat this or that - but I lived 40 miles from saltwater all my life - and owned bay homes etc … A slow moving Cat 1 can pump a crazy amount of water on an area in no time …
Yes. I drove by some of this today. We have had more rain from hurricanes, but its always been closer to the coast where it just turns the streets into rivers and runs back out to sea. The places flooding now are 40 miles inland - the lowcountry swamps. Entrapped area's with nowhere for the water to go. Some of these places I assume will stay till it evaporates at this point, and given it rained again today, its going to be a while. I saw some stuff I wish I didn't - like modest homes and cars flooded.

Sure - look at the Houston area and Harvey - we had lots of folks detour through my little village as the main river covered the freeway - our dealership sold about 10 new lifted trucks in 2 days 😳
