Hunting for something like "snag it"...

Hi!

Got to use something called "snag it" at my old job (before I got laid off a few weeks ago), and I loved the fact I could take anything and cut and paste it around to other stuff.

I see that you can buy this software, but I am looking for a free version of either it or something close to it so that I can make some cool stuff for my son's science club...(have some good ideas)

I use sharex with imgur integration, but that's just for screencaps, and it uploads it immediately to imgur, which is what I want. I think there is other stuff you can do with it, but not sure if it does exactly the same thing as snagit (which I also use at work) for editing stuff after taking it.

Thanks, I did-and it was great! Just that the automotive suppliers have started cutting back, as the orders for parts has really dropped....happen to see it coming just before it happened....

On mac I just use command-shift 3 for a full screen, and command-shift-4 to select just the section that I want, just like snag it. It creates a file directly on my desktop. Windows doesn't have such a capability built in, using the print screen function or something?

I thought there was a snipping tool as well as the ability to use print screen to paste into paint and then take what you wanted as a jpeg or bmp?

I third Windows snipping tool for the win ! Before it showed up the desktop screen print & cutting from that was the way for me. Keep a shortcut on your taskbar. When you first make a selection it is in the clipboard so you can go straight to paste where you need it without doing copy.
