Hummer H2 2003 6.0 Filter suggestion

first brands did it to fram, M+H did it with Wix. brand loyalty won’t get you anywhere anymore. as soon as CQ Premiums start to show issues i’ll be on to the next.
Not the brand loyalty per se, but there is a value on branding. It takes massive amount of time and money to become a brand. Often people, including me, rather spend a couple extra dollars on a known brand with the expectation that they would ensure certain quality as hey have much to loose if don't.

I wonder if PE and M&As are the reason behind this erosion of quality

I have been using OEM filter on all my vehicles so far, not familiar with the aftermarket filters. Buying a new to me H2 with a out 100k miles, and planning to run VRP 5w30 for the first a few oil changes to clean it up. My OCI will probably be around 3k to 5k miles going forward, so high absorption is more important than long life in the filter. What would you all recommend me to use?
I would stick with the tried and true Delco's to save a buck while you run your clean up could go with Super Tech's. You could stick with the Super Tech's as they're exactly the same as Delco's made by Champ Labs or at least were.

to each their own, i don’t understand wanting to “spend more” on an inferior product when the proof is all over this site.

Sorry i was not clear.
What i meant was, we all don't have the bandwidth to research every single thing we buy. A common denominator we all have on this forum is that we are exceptionally interested in, lets say, car maintenance in general.

But if I was a person who want to take of care of his car decent enough but does not want to spend hours online researching what oil or filter is the best, simply buying a known/reputable brand oil and filter would be fitting.

So yeah, i have spent 3 digit hours on reading about engine lubrication so far. Easily spent 50 hours reading about tires. Because i am interested in these and actually enjoy learning more about those. But when I am buying my hand soap, it is coming from a reputable brand is all I care. I may care about every single additive in the engine oil, but my knowledge of the chemistry involving soaps is not too far ahead of what my college chemistry classes taught me
