I thought the HTHS of GC 0W-30 was about 3.5 as reported in various threads in this forum, but in searching the Castrol Canada site, I found the PDS says:

High Temperature High Shear Rate
Viscosity, cP min @ 150° C equals 2.9

What gives?

No typo. Castrol puts the minimum numbers required to meet spec in their data sheets, rather than the real numbers their product produces.

Minimum number to meet the spec (ACEA A3 in this case) is 3.5.

2.9 does not meet the spec.

Yes, that's what they had in mind. It's on the SAE J300 chart.

It meets ACEA A3/B3/B4, therefore its HTHS is at least 3.5 cP.

It is also classified as an SAE 0W-30, which has a requirement for the HTHS to be at least 2.9 cP, as shown in the SAE J300 chart. Castrol has simply stated that the HTHS meets that SAE requirement. It's trivial information.

I think you are correct. It seems that Castrol does intermix actual measured values with min or max specification values on their product data sheets.
Oh well, I think it is a great oil as do many others.
