HPL EC30

I understand HPL EC30 is an engine flush, I don't know if it's a petroleum based engine flush or not, but my question is I see on here where people run it on low mileage engines, engines with under 10K what would be the reason for this? Also why would you run it so often?

Please do more reading. It is not an “engine flush”. It is oil, that cleans well.

It is not intended to flush your engine, at every oil change, like other products.

It is intended for engines that are in need of substantial cleaning, as a more gentle transition from that engine’s current oil to the even better cleaning of HPL base oils, alkylated naphthalenes and PAO.

I’m using HPL 5w20 CK-4 in 2 Focus’s

Brother using their 5w30 CK-4 in Yukon that's 10’ year.

I have a quart of EC30 in my 150K mile CR-V. I'm a few K miles into this oil change and it does not seem to be getting any darker than a normal oil change. I expected it to get darker while cleaning, but I haven't observed any difference yet.

Maybe my engine isn't very dirty inside? Maybe the varnish I see in the fill hole is just concentrated in the upper valve cover and the rest of the engine is clean? It has had Mobil 1 AFE 0W-20 for 100K miles and Pennzoil Platinum for the last 50K. With 7500 mile OCI by the maintenance minder.

It better be petroleum based. I ran it for 6k with HPL HDEO 5w20. No issues. Everyone’s different. I’d not call it a “flush” either.

It’s likely that there is very little to be cleaned up as both of these oils will do a good job of keeping things from getting too dirty.
