Did a quick search in the various forums. Looks like a scant few have run it. Anyone else? Thoughts?

I would try it if I still had my Sportster. 90% of what I used for years in that was 15W-50 Napa Synthetic. Was cheap as bones back then. Worked great.

I’ve run M1 vtwin and Amsoil vtwin pretty consistently with absolutely no issues- both outstanding oils. But, both can be used in all 3 holes. M8’s do not share a sump so friction modifiers in the engine oil is not a concern. Again, M1 and Amsoil- fantastic oils, no complaints from me whatsoever but if HPL vtwin is formulated specifically for the engine and not the primary/transmission, then I would be highly interested in trying.

Yes, I did Evo. That thread was the first to come up in my search. Was just curious to hear from any others who may be using this oil.
The 721 ppm of Moly in that UOA peaked my interest as to whether HPL formulated this as an engine only oil vs. engine / wet clutch oil.
The image is blurry but I do believe that’s a “7” in front of the 21 for Moly. Could be wrong though.

Received an email response from HPL (Outstanding customer service BTW).

The 20w50 vtwin is in fact formulated for the engine only. They have a separate primary oil and other motorcycle oils for engine/wet clutch applications that I did see on their site. Still, I wanted to confirm.

Pretty sure I’ll be ordering some. Again, nothing against Amsoil or M1 vtwin oils. I’ve used both and they are fantastic oils. Call it OCD, being deranged, whatever you like, but I’d like a top notch, full syn motorcycle engine oil for the engine. Not an automotive oil, rather one that was formulated specifically for an air cooled Harley engine, without regard for a wet clutch.

I’ve done all the post reading/research here and on other sites regarding automotive oil in Harley’s (M1 15W50 for example). I even tried VR1 but that sheared out of grade after 1500 mi. Well, allegedly according to B-stone.

With HPL’s stellar reputation and reviews from others on this site, I look forward to trying their vtwin and posting a few UOA’s this riding season. Thanks.

Good choice. I use their 15w50 ATV/Motorcycle wet clutch friendly oil in my Royal Enfield 650. Smooth as silk.

Can you post a link to their 20w50 vtwin oil that is specifically for only the engine? I'd like to start using this too. Thanks

I know I’m a bit late to this one, but the Moly was 721 in that sample.
In my latest sample at 16,800 miles, the moly (after a quart of top off between a filter change and replacing some blow-by consumption) read at 757.
