I might be needing a different car.

I know I've read complaints about the 2.0 EcoBoost. How bad is it? What usually fails? And how often?

How troubled is the Ford 8-speed front wheel drive transmission?

How good or bad is the 2.7 L nano V6 on front wheel drive applications? Does it have the same timing chain driven water pump as the cyclone engines?

Did Ford ever get the E-PAS electric steering straightened out in any of these models or they still guaranteed to fail?

How good or bad are there all wheel drive systems?

Most of the Ecoboosts are good engines, we have an assortment of high mileage Ecoboosts in the family that have been very solid. There are some to avoid, in the 2.0 the 17 thru 19 had gasket issues IIRC.

I had an older AWD MKZ and now the Edge my wife drives, the AWD is pretty good IMO. As with anything, proper tires are important.

I don’t know anything about the 2.7 sorry.

The 2.7 has a proper water pump. The oil pump placement has been dramaticized/criticized but for all the talk there’s not been any statistical evidence of a real problem.

The 2.7 is going to be under stresses in the fwd applications. I have one in my truck, which has seen plenty of towing, and the engine is remarkable. Tons of power, easy torque, top notch mpg. I’d be more concerned with the 2.7 twisting a transaxle into a pretzel.
