How to use Techron fuel system cleaner??

I haven’t seen this discussed but I always thought that it was best to use a fuel system cleaner like Techron when you’re doing just every day stop and go driving in which a tank of fuel would be consumed over a longer period of time. My thought was that this is better than just putting it in prior to one long distance drive in which it is entirely consumed in one trip. Thinking the stopping, turning the engine off, letting it sit overnight soaking etc. would allow the cleaner to perform its desired function better. Does that make sense? And let me know if this has been discussed. Thanks.

It would make sense that having the cleaner sit and soak many times over a tank would be more effective than a long highway drive all at once. With that I would say a mix of both stop/start and some good freeway miles would be ideal and a few full throttle runs might be good too!

When I’ve had an injector issue, overdosing Techron into Shell V-Power or similar & taking a long highway run has fixed it. Occasional maintenance doses, it doesn’t seem to matter-but I run nothing but TT (Shell, Sunoco, Marathon) and BP/Amoco anyway.

Is a tank of Techron or similar cleaner more effective if you are going to be doing prolonged highway driving? Or is it better with shorter trips with stop and go? Getting ready to take a trip and can't decide to do it before or during the trip.

Hello everyone,

What is the effective way for using Techron? The motor has 40000 miles on it with zero use of non top-tier gas but recently the engine has a bit of random shaking when idling. Gonna try the chevron stuff to see if it helps.

Do I need to rev the engine to maximum speed more frequently for maximum cleaning? Is it better to add the stuff before or after doing an oil change? Any thing I need to note for using such kind of product?

So I purchased the Gumout All in One Complete Fuel System Cleaner that treats up to 35 gallons. (I was looking for Regane High Mileage Fuel System Cleaner but the Walmart I went to didn't have it).

For the stated treatment dose, the All in One is cheapest oz for oz.

Even though I had enough for 2 tank fulls, I decided to put it all in the 18 gallon tank.

So the car has had 2 x 50 mile run outs, with about 40 of those miles on the freeway. I pushed it up to 100 a couple of times and also managed to sustain 80 for a few miles as well.

What driving pattern should I aim for for the rest of...

Just got 2 FREE after rebate bottles of techron. Each bottle treats up to 12 gallons and I have a 20 gallon tank. I will be taking a 1,200+ mile road trip at the end of the month, and had planned on using it then.

Would it be more beneficial to use both bottles at the same time while on the highway, or use one bottle at a time?

Also, is it more beneficial to use FI cleaners while on the highway (vs city), or doesnt it matter?

I was wondering if you could double up on techron, or even use a bottle and a half...We are taking 8 hour hwy trip soon and the van could use a good cleaning out...it has some pinging issues, it just seems when i use one bottle not much good is done, maybe a long hwy run with double dosage would be more effective, just wondering if it is safe to do??? thanks!

Does it make any sense to run Redline SI-1 fuel system cleaner on a highway run where the car would burn through an entire tank of gas in a day, or is it preferable to use this product in normal commuting such that it has some time to soak in?
