How to tarp a storm damaged roof?

I hope the storm will miss my county. If not, I have my home and two rentals that might have roof damage. I plan to go to Harbor Freight and buy several big tarps. Can anyone give me tips on how to tarp a damaged roof? This will just be temporary till I can get the insurance company to line up a roofer.

Nails and washers?

I'd use 2"x2"x7' wood to secure the edges with nails. Sand bags in the center of the tarp. That is what I see here in FL after IRMA.

Wrap the tarp in 2x2s or 2x4s for max power and nail it to the roof. I think a dude down the street from me used ice and water membrane to patch his roof. If you're worried about it getting blown off, nail more 2x4s on it.

Professionals would use 1x3 strapping applied vertically at 2-3 foot intervals. You want to always lead water out and down away from the sheathing.

This is what I would do as well, tarps are pretty strong when you clamp down the whole width of them. I suppose around the edges would work too if it was pretty much air tight, but if a corner starts lifting you could lose all of it.

All good advice.
If possible, slip the 'top' edge of tarp underneath the highest shingles so you have proper water runoff.
If done correctly, no further (water) damage will be done and you can relax a little more.
