Is there a way to have people stop sending me and my wife preapproved credit card apps in the mail.Im afriad ones going to get in the wrong hands and really screw me over.I mean how many do they have to send before they realize Im not interested in a credit card and never will be.

Until that takes effect, be sure to shred every one that arrives.

Do you get your mail at home or at the Post Office? If at home, & you're really concerned about it, you might consider renting a post office box for a while.

For the ones that this doesn't take care of, I stuff it all in the enclosed postage paid envelope making sure that my name and address is clearly circled. If all else fails write "deceased" on the envelope and throw in the mail.

Nooo, don't write deceased! Next thing you know you'll be at the social security office trying to prove you're still alive.

Your right, I should have added to that, when receiving credit card offers to your address but someone elses name. I started getting credit card offers at my address, same last name but different first and middle name, reported suspected fraud to the credit card company and the credit bureaus, they kept coming, after a few months I started writing "deceased return to sender" It worked. The most irritating thing was the credit card companies didn't seem to care, their attitude was "Oh well, at least you caught it"

Be careful with all this stuff. My identity was stolen about 3 years ago and it was a lot of trouble. One thing this guy did was open up phone accounts in my name with AT&T. He kept the bills under $25k. AT&T will only go after people that run bills over $25k. I reported all this had police reports, phone numbers, addresses and everything. The police won't/can't help you. I was even told that if I approached this guy, that I could be the one arrested. Almost anything I do to stop him will send me to jail, while he knows how much he can get away with and never be bothered. I'm the one that had to change all credit cards, checking accounts, new SSN, new driver's license with a new number, everyting. I've been following this guy and keep reporting his new adventures, and the police told me to stop. I've never spoken to him but I have to trace what his doing, because he's gone after some of my new accounts. I have passwords on my bank accounts and still the tellers forget to ask me for my password. I received a credit card my name spelled wrong and never called in to activate it. Within the month there were charges on the card. I told the credit card people that I did not activate it and it was not me, that my name was even spelled differently, but they said I own the money. I had to get a lawyer to get it straight. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to meet with this person and explain how disappointed I am with his behavior. There is a line in a tv cartoon, by Daffy Duck that explains my feelings, "Of course you know, this means war!!!".
