Had to use a metal scraper to detach the spoiler, thought about using Goo-Gone but heard that it’s an outdated product.

what is the best method of removing the excess residue so I can prime the paint and reapply the spoiler?

Since its on glass I'd use goo gone.. and a razor blade carefully to pick up the edge.. work the goo gone under and start getting it off.

The goo one neutralizes most of the adhesive and the razor shouldnt scrape glass if used correctly.

Goof off is much stronger but can damage paint.
Goo gone works good enough and is citrus based.

you could also use a plastic scraper if a razor blade bothers you.

Is the tape on paint or glass? If it's on the paint, use a hairdryer or a heatgun and a plastic razor blade to pry up an edge and try and peel off as much as possible. Goo gone is fine to remove any adhesive residue left behind. Put some on a rag and let it sit for a bit to soften it. Just make sure there's no grit stuck to it before you start scrubbing hard at it.

If it's on glass, just get a razor blade and scrape it off. Might still need the goo gone to get the last little bit.

Yeah, some sort of adhesive remover & plastic scraper or metal razor blade. VHB holds down all x4 of my 850 watt solar panels on the truck camper (no screws). I can't believe how sticky this stuff is!
