That's what I used when removing my dealer stickers. I researched it online. That's what a lot of people recommend and it worked great for me.

I've also used this method, preceded by a hair dryer on LOW to soften it up first.

You won't catch Goo Gone, acetone, or any other solvent near my car's finish, and I'm one of those new-fangled millennials. Maybe wisdom doesn't come with age after all.

I had a kid's bike with large stickers all over the frame, that I wanted to paint. In the end, lighter fluid worked the best.

Another interesting thing to use is peanut butter. I've used that with success on some smaller stickers. It seems the oils in the peanut butter are good at removing adhesive.

its the peanut oil.
the peanut butter carries it and keeps it on the area you want to clean.

So you don't wax your car? Guess what is used to dissolve waxes like carnauba to make them applicable? Solvents.

+1 IPA works wonders at taking stuff like that off. Works well with tree sap as well. Plus it is safe to use on the vehicle surface.

Used Goo Gone on a friend's Outback that had two areas of sticker residue. Came right off. With a good coating afterwards, good to go.

I removed the rear stripe/decal off my 1969 Super Bee with a mixture of baby oil and rubbing alcohol, and a hair dryer. It had been on there for years and came off slowly over about 1-2 hours. Softening it with the heat is critical. That decal covered around 5 square feet. Residue from a small decal should be no problem.

Gotta chime in (late) on the warning over acetone. It, and lacquer thinner, are super solvents and super aggressive to paint.

They are the "nukes" in the finishing world. Good 'n strong but still friendly when compared to the 2 above is denatured alcohol. It is the solvent in Goop (and other) hand cleaners.
