How can I easily play someone their own message that they left on my answering machine? Someone left me a charming little poem and denies it. It's a digital answering machine.

Can you call them, then press play on the machine and have it report the message into the mic of the phone you're making the call on?

I agree that using the voice recorder function on a phone or computer, and then sending that digital file is probably best...

Record it with your smartphone or computer (if your computer has a video camera, it has a built-in microphone), and eMail it to him/her, or play it back on a phone call.

You might want to use a second phone or a landline to make the call, then play it back with whatever you used to record it.

On your phone you are looking for a memo function or just use the video record as you would with a computer.

There are probably another five dozen ways to pull this off, but if you are asking you probably aren't all that savvy with technology and the above suggested method is pretty simple.

Even simpler is ask someone you know who is OK with this kind of stuff to come over and do it for you.

Very interesting and telling replies!

Here is how I got the message off the answering machine: I connected the line-out jack on the answering machine to the mic jack on the computer and used Audacity to record the message as a wav file, then exported as mp3, which I emailed to the denier.

Naw, the people for whom I will play the recording will recognize the voice. But yes, I have access to logs of inbound and outbound calls.
