First hi, I've stalked your forums for a while. Decided to join when the pile of questions got too big.
Anyway, my biggest question right now is how can I extend an OCI? I'm not doing it so much for convenience/money as much as I figure I might as well use the fewest number of products and least volume total just to save a few trees and be a hippie. I have a 2012 Subaru Impreza base with a CVT. I just did my first oil change yesterday from whatever came in it from the factory to some cheap Citgo fully synthetic 0w-20 and API certified stuff I got at a local hardware store. I also replaced the Subaru oil filter with a Bosch 3300. Already I've noticed that the MPG is up quite a bit for whatever reason, it used to struggle at 30MPG highway and now easily gets 34/35 (well, from testing the day I've had it in lol.)
Anyway, what can I do to make this oil last the longest, and how long should I go before changing it? And after I DO change it, what oil should I use for the longest OCI and what filter? Price is no factor here.
I should mention that I am a relatively young man(20), so obviously it's not going to be like grammy is driving it or anything. However I'm fully aware it's not an M5 or one of the AMG series, so I don't try to drive it like that. The worst I probably do is floor it towards a light that I know turns red quickly, probably every day. That brings up another thing, I'll probably be adding 20+ miles on it every day on average (some days none, some days 60). I rarely take short trips, the closest source of food is many miles away and the only top tier gas is on my way to work. So usually at least 4 miles at a time.
Thanks for reading all of that, I'm good at wasting a lot of space with things that don't matter. Like this. And that. And this and that.
