how to clean PCV Valve?

Carb cleaner in an aerosol can.
If you don't mind waiting overnight Berryman makes this really nasty caustic parts cleaner called Chem-Dip carb parts cleaner.
I don't like dealing with chemicals so I replace them with an OEM valve if available.

I guess you could use carb cleaner like one poster suggested. Does it rattle when you shake it? I would just replace it if it’s more than 50k miles old
If the valve rattles when shaked, there is no need to clean it.
yes but the spring loses tension.

Do PCV valves ever need replacement these days? I remember replacing them every year or two back in the 80s and 90s when they were $2 each and easy to replace but in all honesty I never had one that didn’t rattle when I checked it. I haven’t changed a PCV valve since probably 1995. I still have the original PCV on my Civic with 260,000 km on it.
Now I'm wondering where the PCV valve is on my 10-year-old Sienna.
OEM PCV valve for the vehicles I have owned are like $8-$12. Just replace it.
Replace it. I don't even bother with the suck and blow test anymore. The rattle test isn't definitive of a working valve. It just indicates that it's not caked up.
