I would like to give my cat something to calm him down so I can put him in a cat carrier. The last time required me to get MY wounds fixed at MY Dr. Ed

Your vet should be able to prescribe something but I agree on the towel first.
Eventually your cat should get used to riding in the carrier, mine have.

You folks are obvious not familiar with scared fighting cats. He will sit on my lap every night and on my lap in the evening. When I have a towel or blanket in hand, I can't get near him. I sold the pet carrier and now have an open top cardboard box. If I can get him very sleepy with Meds, I will drop him into the box and quickly fold the top over. Someone suggested Benidrill but, I only heard it from one so not sure about this. Ed

Had cats all my life. Have 4 right now but I guess they trust me. Only had to do the towel thing once on my ferrel cat when I took him in to be fixed.

I had a cat who was good for the vet until one day when his sibling was yowling next to him on the way to the vet, and when the vet examined him, he kind of snapped and after that he would get very combative going to the vet.

The vet eventually had me give him gabapentin (your vet will know) about an hour before we set off for the vet, and he got much more calm. He would still raise a fuss after an exam, but the humans fared much better. I just had to keep an eye on him when I got home, he would be a little groggy for hours after that, and he liked to drink out of the toilet. He had a little accident after one of the vet trips.

There is a safe medication called Gabapentin, used to treat anxiety in pets.

Safe, well tolerated. Does not put them into a haze but definitely takes the edge off. Easy to give as a liquid.

If you have any edible marijuana in capsule form that should work. Just put a little of the extract in his food and wait a couple hours, he should be pretty mellow by then

One cat we had, I used the bottom only of the two piece carrier with a metal gate front, as where I gave the cat its treats. Then after weeks of it getting use to that, I added the top and it had to go in to that with the door off to get the treats, then after weeks I added the door but kept it open and still put the treats in the cage, then after weeks I closed the for a few seconds while it got the treats. The cat still did not like going in the carrier to go places, but it was a little less stressed out when in it. At the vet it actually went in the carrier to go home with no trouble at all.

Shove him in and close the door. It worked when I was little and scared when my folks had to take me to the dentist.
