How Thin Oil's Kill Your Engine, the Magic Mechanic Show

Anyone who uses thinner than 5w40 should probably get a quote for a new long block from their dealer - failure is inevitable!! 🤪😁
I’m with you on that. but I can’t decide between the L8P 6.6L 523 HP LT, for $8,948.80 USD, or just go with the 572 727HP big block for $25,939.36 C$ for the gasoline burners.
What’s a crate 6.6L Duramax going for these days?

Save me a little hassle. What did he say about it? I mean I just heard gibberish, but in some engines 0W-30 is fine in place of 0W-20, not that 0W-20 spells ruination.
He said that with the thinner oil's the engine sounded like it had Marbles in it and these engines running thinner oils would not make it past 70K or 80K. He said something that with Amsoil 0W-30 in the Toyotas that they sounded great.

One can find all kinds of silliness online.
This is but one example.
Hard to take this half-baked nonsense seriously and I pity those members of the hoi polli who take this sort of thing to heart.
Lots of nonsense out there among the uninformed.
I had a young lady tell me a week or so back that the flex fuel engine in her Escape would last longer using E85. I told her that this is simply not true and that all the flex fuel designation means is that you can safely run E85 without damage, not that it's preferred.
I don't know whether she believed me or not.

Just because you watched something on YT is not a reason, in and of itself, to broadcast it here. If you believe there is merit to the video, then by all means, put some effort into defending it. Or, if you believe it's flawed in the logic, discuss why. Don't just dump this garbage on our doorstep and then ring the bell and run away.
I particularly liked this comment. Agree 100%

I'm very old school. Nothing less than 5w-30. But only time will tell whose right...
I dont see how anyone could go wrong sticking with the 5w30 oil like you have chosen. The 5w30 has been around and was a top recommended oil for just about everything from cars , SUVs to regular duty pick up trucks for many many years.

Ok.... So the guy makes a few valid points as do some other folks. But it sure would help if anyone was really interested to let people know exactly what credentials / education / work background he comes from. He could be just any other guy with time on his hands who likes to hear and see himself on YT videos.

I don't think he made any valid points. I am guessing that he is a mechanic, but credentials aside, his arguments are all wrong.

I'm glad I read the commentary here first, thanks. That's another YT video I won't bother to watch.
