How picky are you when brewing coffee?

The only ritual I hold to is using water only from our Brita pitcher. Our city uses a community well, and the water is not very good... makes very odd tasting coffee. But before I lived here, I always had Detroit City water, which is very good, so I never had to worry about using a filtered pitcher.

A Keurig and good K-cups. You don't need anything else.

$20-$30 wal-mart machine, the cheapest paper filters i can find, (save-alot) $5.00 can of Coffee, 4-5 scoops, use my well water.. and when its done about 1/4 the coffee cup is filled with wichever French vanila is on sale.. top off with coffee.. its always good.. but then again, im not exactly picky.

This. I just can't bring myself to buy one right now. They're pricey! But they sure do make great coffee.

Klutch, I guess pricey is a relative thing, differing over the various income levels. The way I look at it: I bought my Special Edition about 4 years ago. After a Kohl's discount and coupon it was about $100. I don't know how much longer it will last, but let's say another 2 years. That's 6X365.25 or 2191 days. I make on average 4 cups a day in it, so that's 4X2191 or 8764 cups of coffee. $100 divided by 8764 is just over 1.14 cents per cup for the machine. Of course, the k-cups, if bought right run about 50cents each. But where else can you get a really great cup of coffee, in about a minute, for 51 cents? Plus, there's almost nothing besides your cup to clean up!
