Just purchased some new Michelin Pilot tires witha date code of 004X, can anybody explain this one? First 2 digits are supposed to be the week, second two the year? Appreciate any input.

DD11 isn't the code?
turn the tire around. You will see something after the DD11 
It’s the type and construction which nobody cares about outside Michelin
It is a code but not date.

According to above DD11 is "manufacturing code" and it is probably Michelin proprietary number.
As soon as you post picture with date code we can tell which week of the which year it was made.
