How often to you upgrade Cell phones

I'll replace mine when the old one breaks. So probably never.

Every one to two generation in Apple only.

iPhone 4s->5s->6->7->11-> 12???? or 13 day It comes out (charger/data port broken currently :( and Apple only checks it turns on at store for trade in).

Still on my iPhone 6 after five years, after changing battery last spring. I figure I can get another two years out of it.

Replaceable batteries are key. Two years extra life for $70.
Why bother when you can get a 2020 iPhone SE for free just by switching to pretty much any prepaid carrier? Cricket is running that special right now.

I just replaced my LG flip phone that I got in 2003....The only reason I had to was ATT is getting rid of 3g. So I got a free phone from them that accepts 4 and 5 g. It also is a flip phone....thats all I need...

Like clockwork every two years since 2002. This year MAY be different now that I am in the Apple world and my phone still looks new. I May go three years and then pick up a iPhone 12 next fall when the iPhone 14 comes out.

Its going to be weird feeling 3 years on the same phone so I'll see if I make it!. Thing is my diamond condition iPhone XR is worth $207 on the Apple store right now, site unseen. Im sure I could get $300 for it on ebay. Not a mark on it. SO in another year, not sure if I will be saving money by waiting, yet, love this phone and dont feel compelled, YET! I still have 3 months untill two years old in December ! *L*

But then again, the new Apple Watch 7 will be out, that maybe way more compelling enough to hold off no the phone 1 year.
