How often to change halogen headlight bulbs?

thought of something here. alot of plastic headlights get a layer of oxidation built up on the outside. this degrades light output significantly. even new bulbs wont fix this. if youre headlight housings are ageing, then clean them up or replace them. its a FAR batter upgrade than any bulb replacment could ever do.

I run sealed beam halogens, and they DO get dim. If I waited for them to burn out, I wouldn't be able to see down the road properly. My guage is when I can't see my lights sweep across a particular house in a curve on my street, its time to replace. Once replaced, My lights make a distinctive sweep across this house.

I change mine twice yearly, when I put on snow tires. And I only do that because I got tired of bleeding the summer air out and putting in winter air.

I changed because the stock ones were getting dim. Thinking of doing the bulbs in the girlfriend's car as I'm pretty sure those are ancient, and I can't see anything at night in her car.

I run em on brights all day, and then the usual at night.

For goodness sakes stop driving with your highbeams on!
