How often do you wear a seat belt?

When I worked in public works, about 80%. Frequent stops, and I'd skip it.

Otherwise, only if I'm pulling my car from the garage, moving it down the alley and around the block. By then, the chimes go nuts.

There was an accident around here just recently. Driver was not belted in and crashed his suv. He was ejected. He might have lived but a semi ran over him in the same moment.

Ghastly way to go.

My Grandmother never ever got that.
Nan, the car does not move until you put on the seatbelt.
OK, then she grabs it, slides over herself and doesn't plug it in.

I've got it over my shoulder, they won't ticket you.
You don't get it, we do not move until you put on your seatbelt.
She shuffles around, puts the shoulder strap behind her back, creating a lap sash.
Nan, the car is not moving until you are wearing the seatbelt as it was designed...anyone passing it will be obvious.
She puts on the seatbelt, I drive off.
less then a km down the road, hear a "click" from the back...she took it off again.
CAR STOPS

(bear in mind she was only in her 60s at that stage, and never developed dementia in her 84 years...plenty of stubborn.)

Bunch of guys at work 7-8 years agowere in trouble for manufacturing "spades" that they clipped into the seatbelt buckle to stop the chiming...they got a caution...so they plugged the seatbelt in and sat on it...and got another caution.

I got in a car today, and went to click in the belt...and there was already something in there. Someone had cut an old tongue off a belt to put in there, obviously they didn't use a belt. Guy at the old shop were not happy with their new Tritons...put something on the passenger seat and the seatbelt chime comes on.

Not only in the car, but I do it on the bus too.
I get some strange looks, but better safe than sorry!

I wear the seatbelt every single time I get in my car. Even if I am short driving such as, from one store in a shopping plaza to another store in the same plaza...basically just changing parking spaces when carrying shopping bags or it's raining. We've all seen those parking lot fender benders!

I also require all of my passengers(F & R) to wear their belts as well before I drive off. Otherwise, I am not leaving my parking spot/driveway.

Just the other day, 2 young girls(soon to graduate high school) were in a terrible accident. Girl driving was wearing her seatbelt(she's in the hospital) but, her passenger was not wearing the seatbelt and flew threw the windshield into the oncoming vehicle. Sad to say, she did not live.

We hear this all the time.

Buckle Up!

CB

P.S.
Same goes for jack stands. Use them before you lose a limb...or worst!

Not when doing musical cars in the driveway. 100% the rest of the time.

I do disable the chime. Hate that stupid thing. Tried to disable it on my newer Toyota's but it's determined to chime 5 times. Stupid. As a rule I start my car then buckle--or in winter, get out to clean the car off. I don't need a nanny to tell me what I already know. I know why it was mandated to have that chime but it's time for it to die.

Oh, and it's not the law here. 18 and older is not required.

100% of the time.

Start engine.
While oil pressure is building and temps come up a little, I fasten seat belt, program GPS, plug in my phone, etc.

I've got a routine.

That's exactly what I do-wait for glow plug timer on diesels, get it started, put on seat belt before it goes in gear. 100% of the time.

100%, and seatbelts are one item that I typically replace if there is any question on their condition or improve such as adding 3 points in an old car. Typically wore them when younger too...

I'll credit 3 pointers w/ clearly helping me twice; driving my Wrangler when an 88 yr old crossed the centerline and as a passenger in a small plane on a hard landing. I'm a believer...

Its part of the protection system of the car, so I and everyone else in the car must always wear one. You would be a complete moron not to...and a $115 fine will help a fool to reconsider around these parts.

I always wear it, 100% of the time. I almost lost my parents back in 1984 in a wreck in which they were not wearing their belts. My Dad was an honest man and never gave anyone the [censored] story, "I'd have been killed if I'd had that belt on." He always told everyone, rightly, that he and my mother would have been MUCH better off had they worn their belts. The only thing that kept them in their car was that it was spinning and tumbling around. They hit, with great force, the dash, windows, windshield, steering wheel, and shifter, repeatedly.

I've worn mine ever since, and it has saved me from injury one time in a wreck.

I also had a friend who was killed when he was ejected and run over by his own car. No belt, obviously. It was a wreck that he very possibly could have survived, with a belt.

My Parents who were wearing seatbelts survived this, badly hurt, but survived and the car rolled several times after a clipping a few small trees several feet in the air. I had given this car to my Dad in '97 a BMW 318Ti Club Sport, and it was his favorite, he kept it better than new. He couldn't drive any more, so Mom was driving to our family vaca and she fell asleep on rt 95 in the middle of the day w/ this result.

Bothe seats collapsed, the hatch and driver's and passenger's windows were gone, without belts one or both would have been ejected. What you can barely make out is that the entire car is folded in the passenger footwell.

Wear your seat belt...

Many parts of the US, the fine is much higher than that

Ever since I saw a crash test dummy flying through the windshield at 25mph in a drivers ed. film, I've used it every time I gotten in a vehicle.
