Just like the subject says. How often do you use a flushing agent before you do the oil changes?

I use Motul engine clean every other oil change, and thinking that i probably do not need it seeing my engine in clean enough to eat off. lol

every time I sit on the thrown....oh wait....you meant engine. Sorry

I had a 99 Trans Am with a heavy sludge buildup thanks to the previous owner. Had to use a flush in the oil before every oil change.

My Mustang has 31,500 miles and I have never used a flush yet.

Never, there is no need to

Never.

I am just picky and always think i should. I have never driven with it in the engine like some do.

I do 5000km changes on Motul 300v which is pretty [censored] good, and pricey. Engine is mint and spotless but still do the flush every other change.

I always have transparency in my oil, and sometimes i even chane my filter halfway through. I know i am ocd about my ride.

Never....

It's VERY risky to do it. Many times this results in a seized engine due to debris getting where it shouldn't AFTER it has be dislodged.

Like others here say, if you do regular maintenance you'll never need anything but oil in your crankcase.

If anything maybe use a HDEO for 2k several times that should be all the flush you'll ever need.

Why is a flush neded on a properly maintained engine. I have worked on everything from cars to semitrucks and over the past 23 years never seen the need.

Witch's brew imo and a total waste of money.
If your doing it every other oci then you are doing more harm than good, like what was stated above, doing proper change intervals and using a quality oil there is no need, ever.

When i do intake manifold gasket repairs i use cheap oil and do short OC to flush coolant contaminates out but no solvent unless she's a sludged nightmare pig then the B-12 and HDEO comes out.

MMO at an OCI?

SeaFoam 100 miles before an OC?

Are these "Gradual" Flushes?

Some people know not the history of their car.

Powerful flushes will Kill it i know that.

In my past used vehicles I ran a 3k OCI of SuperTech 5-30 with 7-8 oz. of Seafoam in the crankcase (1 oz. per qt of oil) - but that's it. They were used/neglected vehicles, so I just did the flushes once per vehicle, with the Fram Extended Guard filters (higher quality than regular orange can and well, WM backs their products for 3 months/3000 miles so that's a win-win there lol..). After the 3k, back using regular Pennzoil Conventional and ST even other OCI.

As far as the various "flush" products no never went down that road, they seem too harsh. I know many dealers even have TSBs regarding "power" (mechanical) flushes and other "strong" solvent flushes.

I wish I would have gotten one of those vehicles used oil analysis done....but when I intended on mailing the sample in, the vehicle got totaled - BUT, on the other hand, the front end smash revealed a good part of the engine; and it looked fairly clean.....not salvageable though in any way though.

Never. I had a lower intake manifold gasket leak on my blazer that gummed everything up and causing my number one lifter stick. I added some MMO for 500 miles to free up the lifter. After that i did a few short runs with HDEO and then went to PP for a 5k interval. Im back to 6K to 8K changes with PP and everything is all good. I would really like to see in there again though to see what it looks like.

Having done it several time in the past...Gunk or similar...pour a qt. in oil..run for 5 minutes at idle and immediately drain.

Never a problem.

Now using synthetic oil...nothing to flush.
