Yay! Thats awesome.

Something similar happened to my best friend's parakeet when we were kids. Bird got out, flew one row of houses over (townhouses) and landed on someone's door knocker just before a storm hit. Those people were just finishing up moving out and took the bird with them. Turns out the family was a friend of a friend or something of his older brother and about a week later word got around to them about my friend's missing bird.

No, but she did have a small sore on her back, probably from being poked by a stick/branch as she fluttered and/or tumbled down to the ground. She was quite pleased with herself, actually.

Very cool! Glad to hear you got your little budgie buddy back! It's also good to hear that you care for him as a family member, not as an expense or a fair weather friend...

I am so pleased to hear that you got him back. To be honest when you first posted I thought that he would have absolutely no chance of surviving. You had better keep him under strict supervision from now on.

Congrats on the return of your cheepity-beep-cheep! So nice to have a lost pet return. I've never had one as a pet, but do feed the wrens and cardinals. They like to play in the sprinkler this time of year.

That's just fantastic Tinker kept repeating your phone number!! Very clever that bird!

Tinker tends to repeat much of what he hears. I'm not presuming he deliberately "phoned home." It is unusual thta he got talkative around a stranger. Then again, the lady fed him and took him in, so he may have felt comfortable in her presence.

Not many people know it, but a Budgie named "Puck" holds the world record for the most words known by a bird - something around 1800 words.

Here's a good talker ... "Disco". Budgies can be amazing little guys.

Interesting. I didn't know parakeets could even talk. Thought that was left to their larger-brained cousins and Myna birds.
