How much limited slip additive in a dana 70?

The stuff I got was a 4oz bottle that's good for 2qts. The directions say add another bottle if your capacity is greater than this. I always thought you had to be careful with this stuff and not add too much. Fluid capacity is 3.5 qts for the dana 70. So far, I've only added one bottle. Should I add the second? I was just going to drive around how it is now and see if it still chatters when turning

What product? Does it chatter with the current hypoid fluid? Most modern hypoid GL-5 fluids have a modest amount of LS chemistry already in them.

I add 1/4 of the bottle initially and then go do figure 8's in an empty parking lot.

If I hear or feel chatter, then repeat with another 1/4 bottle until chatter disappears.

I wouldn't add it unless it chatters with the hypoid fluid you have in there.

Overtreating leads to slippage when you need traction the most.

It chatters when turning. Shakes the whole truck if a trailer is back there. Empty, it's semi okay

What do you mean typhoid fluid? I just used 75w140 gear oil valvoline synthetic

GL-5 fluids are designed for the high loading encountered in hypoid-type differentials using spiral bevel gears. They use a chemistry called "EP" or extreme pressure additives.

"API GL-5 – Intended for heavily loaded gear sets with high sliding forces such as hypoid differentials. GL-5 lubricants contain high levels of extreme-pressure additives to provide protection under boundary lubrication conditions. Common heavy duty applications include differentials in on-road and off-road trucks, differentials, final drives in Caterpillar scrapers, and differentials and planetaries in Euclid haul trucks. Some manual-shift transmissions can use GL-5, but typically should not be used in synchromesh-type transmissions, as the EP additives can be corrosive to yellow metals found in those transmission types. Limited-slip differentials also typically require a specific lubricant with a limited-slip additive..."

Yeah I figured it out. Pretty much everything is superceded to GL-5. That's what I put in it. Valvoline 75w140 synthetic. I didn't know at the time it was going to look brand new when I drained it out, so I just bought the valvoline to do a short run, but I'll probably just run a full interval since it looked so good coming out.

I've never had to add more than one bottle of the Lubegard stuff in any truck I've serviced.
I’ve just used the lubeguard tubes at the recommended ratio for my Dana 70/80 differentials that have LS function.

For the LSD in my S-10 ZR-2, I use Amsoil SVG and don’t add anything.

It worked fine with just one bottle. Noticed a difference immediately
