How much is your vehicle tag in your state ?

$160 this year for the Equinox with the state park passport included ($14)
no property tax on tags. I do wish this money actually went to the roads instead of the shell game they play for funding Obamacare.

$35 for the tag
$4-6 for the "agent fee" if renewed online or at town hall. Free at DMV.
$4 for every $1000 of MSRP for vehicles over 5 years old; more for newer stuff.

My 1991 F150 was $116.29 in total for a year.

Around $65 for gas or diesel vehicles (amount can vary based on county tax or fees) and around $165 for a hybrid. Some genius in Ohio's House or Senate wanted to penalize "electric" vehicles because the state doesn't get fuel taxes for those but didn't know how to distinguish between EVs and hybrids.
Actually a little less than half that, but there is the stupid hybrid tax on top of it for the HAH.
The tax on EVs is only $200.00, which makes some sense since an RV driver is obviously not paying any fuel taxes while obviously using the roads.

Just checked for my '95: $85 next year for the tag, plus $20 tax and $15 personalized plate fee.

All my vehicles in Minnesota are old enough for the minimum, otherwise it's a combination of age and value. Minimum for a passenger vehicle is $40.25.

75 bucks. It was 25 when I lived in Missouri but I had to pay personal property tax. No PPT or state income tax in TX. No worries, they make it up in property taxes.
Amen to that.

Actually a little less than half that, but there is the stupid hybrid tax on top of it for the HAH.
The actual "registration" fee the state charges is only $31 but the deputy registrar adds a fee along with others that bring it to $60-65 as long as you keep your existing plate. The $100 fee for hybrids is an additional amount, plug-in hybrids are $150, and as you say, full EVs are $200.

Effective January 1, 2024, Revised Code (R.C.) section 4503.10(C), requires an additional registration fee for the following the following motor vehicles, per registration year:
  • Hybrid vehicle - $100
  • Plug-in hybrid - $150
  • Electric vehicle - $200

To quote AZDOT.gov’s website:

A vehicle license tax is included as part of the annual fee to register your vehicle. It is based on an assessed value of 60 percent of the manufacturer’s base retail price reduced by 16.25 percent for each year since the vehicle was first registered in Arizona (15% before 8-1-98).
From there, the rate is calculated based on the assessed value. $2.80 per $100 of assessed value for new vehicles and $2.89 per $100 for used vehicles.
The examples provided are, a $30k vehicle is $504 the 1st year, $435.67 the 2nd year, and $364.87 the 3rd year.
Plus $13.50 in fees.

Which reminds me, the Genesis’ registration expires this month. Just renewed it. $50 of it was for my personalized plate.

I live in Indiana, so renewing vehicle tags is a fairly simple formula:

A. What was the MSRP of your vehicle(s) when new? $_______________
B. How much did you make last year? Include tips. $_______________
C. Add Line A to Line B >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $_______________
D. Take the amount calculated in Line C. above, and send it in, we'll mail you your stickers eventually

Ok thats not true, but sometimes it feels like it. I have a 2001 Sequoia, 2016 CX5, 2017 Mazda3, and a 2019 Fiat Spider. I think all combined last year I paid $450-ish, or thereabouts. Not terrible compared to some, on the other hand these arent exactly new cars, or it would be a way more, and it used to be when they were all newer.

The actual "registration" fee the state charges is only $31 but the deputy registrar adds a fee along with others that bring it to $60-65 as long as you keep your existing plate. The $100 fee for hybrids is an additional amount, plug-in hybrids are $150, and as you say, full EVs are $200.
The deputy registrar is only allowed a fee of $5.00 with the rest consisting of locally imposed permissive taxes. The HEV, PHEV and EV charges are then applied.
The permissive tax where I live is $20.00, so I end up paying $51.00 plus the $100.00 on the HAH.

I think for regular tags to renew it starts at $65 for one year but I could be wrong it maybe less. I haven’t had regular tags in a long time. Two years is $100 and three years is I think $139 or close. I usually do 2 or 3 years for my plates but they are special base and personalized so they are $35 extra per year and my truck is $20 extra per year.
