That's already been invented. It's called stool analysis, but it's a s.h.i.t.t.y job...

As for Terry's raising prices... well, the guy was probably overloaded with analysis work since every Tom, D.i.c.k, and Harry could afford to send in his sample. This meant a lot of overtime for Terry, and in his line of business, if he wants to stick to his trade secrets, he can't just easily hire more people to do the job. So the logical thing to do is to raise prices. This will reduce the number of samples and reduce the amount of overtime while increasing his revenue/hour. If you could do the same, wouldn't you?

As for me, I did enjoy Terry's UOA interpretation in the past, but my curiosity has also been pretty much satisfied at this point, and so I don't envision to be desiring his services, especially at the current price levels.

Thanks, but no thanks, on used oil analysis. I'll just keep blindly changing my PP out "too early" every Spring and Fall at about 3750 miles per run. So far;So good.

His strategy of working less and making more will probably pay off. Now its beyond the reach of the average Joe, and I would guess that was his intention. Smart move when you think about it. As for me, I'm with FZ1. I'll watch AF levels and make sure the air filtering system, and PCV are working fine and just change the oil a little sooner as I've done in the past. While I'm at it I'll look for vacuum leaks too.
