How Much Do You Tip Your Barber ?

I had found a barber I liked and stayed with him for about 15 years. He retired after 58 years and age 84. I tipped $2 on a $15 haircut. Found another guy for a few years. Good barber but all else not so good, so I walked. Tipped him $2 on $13 haircuts. Tried a couple of other barbers, both pretty bad and seemed to only stay in business due a real shortage of men's barber shops. Last year I found a good guy whose wife also occasionally cuts. I tip them $5 on a $15 haircut. If you want something special, l I believe he charges about $22.

I go when I get a chance which can be anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

There must be somthing wrong where I live. They use to charge 33 €.
Granted that includes coffee and cookies, she's the owner of shop and
more beautiful than that girl on page 1. 🤭 Takes half an hour at least.
I use to tip 5 € btw..

$5.
I go to places like supercuts and great clips, and it takes maybe 10 minutes to cut my hair. Edit: I also get my haircut around every 3-4 weeks.

Been going to the same guy for 20+ years and have always tipped $2. He charges $14 and that includes trimming my eye brows/ears and razor shave the neck. I go every 2 or 3 months, I get it cut short and let grow, the wife likes me in longer hair but I prefer it short.

That's a great price, especially for a barber for 20 years, and all the extra he gives you.... Maybe up his tip to $10, even with a $10 tip, seems like a great value.

Before Covid came, my barber -- his Dad owned 90% of the barber shop & it employed 4 full time barbers & was a gold mine. They were charging $16.00 a cut & I would just give him a $20.00 and say thanks. Now he cuts hair at his own make shift huge garage/barber shop. I give him $25.00 and now you make appointments with him. Been using him for probably the last 12-13 years and have no intentions of moving on or giving him more money at this time.

I haven’t stepped foot in a ‘ barber shop ‘ in 35 years. The same woman has cut mine and my wife’s hair all these years. She charges $18 to cut mine and it takes her about 12 minutes. Slip her a 20 and she’s tax free happy, ;)plus I’ve funneled dozens of customers to her over the years.

Back in the 70 I used to go to a woman that gave a hair cut and a blow dry. We used to call it a hair cut and a BJ.

$29 haircut. Includes a face and neck shave with a straight razor, hot towels, shampoo, and trim the eyebrows. Pretty much a tune up.

$20 tip.
$35.00 haircut. Includes a face and neck shave with a straight razor, hot towels, trim goatee and eyebrows.
Barbershop banter is no extra charge.
