How Much Are You Paying For An Air Filter?

"Did the price of air filters go up? Or is it just because my car is new?"

Because it it new. I remember how shocked I was years ago when I went to buy a replacement air filter for my nine month old '87 Taurus. I don't remember the exact price, but I do remember that it was more than double the price I was used to paying for filters for my '84 Scirocco. Now those Taurus filters are dirt cheap, but back then they were new and relatively rare.

Air filter for my cav is about $10 or therabouts. The ones for the expedition are around $20.

Fram seems to make a better fitting filter in every application I have tried. I was buying the STP 8 dollar paper filters, but they fit a little bit loose.

my aem dryflow came with my intake for 107 shipped. seperate is about 40-45

$15 for OEM paper flat filters (interval is 40K miles), $40 to $50 for synthetic dryflow cone filters (for the AFE CAI) from AEM or Amsoil (washable, good forever essentially, filters better).
