Saw this and wondered the scrap metal prices. Are they really worth the price of driving around and cutting them off?

I don't know exactly but I'd guess at best .40/lb

And you'd need to cut it up further to not have (honest) scrapyards ask questions.

Absolutely there are better, easier, faster ways to make $ that aren't illegal

Do you know it was an aluminum road sign?
Do you know what kind of sign it was?
...speed limit or stop or cautionary?
....XYZ church up ahead?
...Kiwanis Meeting time sign listing a restaurant somebody didn't like or.......

edit: New Use for Aluminum Signs.......bodywork on a Cybertruck (drop mic...leave stage)

I went to a garage sale the other day and saw about 2 dozen for sale. I didn't ask where the seller obtained them and didn't want to know. Shaky business for sure.

That stupidity caused two people to die because some idiots removed a stop sign at an intersection that had a lot of brush hiding the intersection. If engeries or death is caused, then the trial should be for Man-Slaughter second degree. JMO

I've obtained two of the larger road construction ones that were sitting in ditches for months before I grabbed them. I only noticed them on my road bike -- a motorist would have never seen them. They had been property of private contractor traffic control companies, not government. I personally experienced zero guilt considering them found property under these circumstances.

So you draw the line at stealing from the government, but it's ok to steal from private contractors?

Probably stolen by the same demographic that is stealing catalytic converters and stripping copper wire from streetlights or other sources.
Funny how these types of crimes weren't that widespread and common about 10 or so years ago. I wonder what changed ? Well, I think most of us know.
