How many of you corrected a female?

I had to post this because this happened today:

I was pumping gas and in my peripheral vision I saw an extremely attractive girl with a Volkswagon Jetta. When she popped her hood, my instinct kicked in and I stared at her and I had to make sure she wasn't making any mistakes.........she had a jug of windshield cleaner.......she popped the coolant reservoir open. I yelled "Ma'am, stop!!!". She was startled for a second and told her the correct tank to put it in. After my fuel nozzle clicked, I walked to her car and showed her.

This is one of hundreds of things I had to correct females when it comes to cars. From forgetting to put the fuel pump nozzle back to telling mothers that they need new tires and it's a hazard to her 10 children, how did you help the opposite sex? .....chivalry ain't dead..

Well, I haven't corrected females nearly as much as I have males.

And.....I have been corrected by females a gazillion times. Just recently our IT tech. person corrected me on some computer applications. And, an engineer in our department corrected me on a design problem I was working on. Our accountant/book keeper corrected me on some data entry processes. One of my doctors corrected me on medical questions and a few years ago our lawyer corrected me on real estate assumptions.

Then there's the more mundane advice: don't mix the whites with the colors in hot water, don't leave the baby boy laying naked on the bassinet without a diaper over the "tool", and on and on....

With over-reactive (scared or scarred) women these days(That cant take ANY form of correction, even if it's to save an engine) Im surprised you didn't get pepper sprayed.

Good job but I don't believe you started to stare after she popped the hood.

I take care of all the car matters for my wife. Does that count for correcting a female? Mind you. I don't think she knows what the oil dip stick looks like but I really couldn't dress myself without her.

In defence of women like this, society or womens lib have told them to go do like equals, sure ,but most women weren't raised to know about vehicles, it's not their fault although they try to over compensate in order to 'equal-up'.Plus if some women appear to ask for assistance they fear they'll be 'hit on' for at least their number which is vain or self-flattery or something, its tougher on some city women these days...their brother is across the country, Dads retired in Florida, their boyfriend is just as clueless .....or........ she purposely popped her hood to get your attention!

In defense of women in general, I have had to help many men when it comes to car matters. Just the other day, I told a co worker (a 40 year old man) that I was going to go home and change my oil. He said, "Wow, you really know how to do that? I always take it to the shop. You're going to have to show me that some time." He was serious. And he's not alone. There's another guy up there whose wife does all the oil changes, brake jobs, and everything else on their cars that can be reasonably done in a home garage. She's pretty cute, too (though I feel bad saying that about another man's wife). I could go on. I can't tell you how many men think that it's strange that I can work on lawnmowers. These men are not effeminate or any such nonsense. Some people just are not mechanically inclined.

The idea that men know about cars and women need correction is nothing less than sexism.

It's a good thing you caught that woman, Popinski, but I'd bet quite a few men have made the same mistake she was going to.

I was going to ask her out but she had jacked up teeth. It was all good until she smiled. I didn't want to add that to the original post because it would spoil the mood. LOL.

Seriously, if a person doesn't know how to change a tire or do any basic maintenance and care, they shouldn't be allowed to own a car at all. That's like not telling an Air Force airmen to not sleep while working at a nuclear base.....they do brief them..right?

+1.5 If I do correct MY female, at least on the wrong topic, it's assured that I'll pay for the constructive criticism.

There's no redemption from this egregious trespass upon her.

Other women ..not so much. I must be a familiar thing.

When we first started going out, my better half asked me to tell her if she started doing things that her mother did that annoyed her majorly.

Stupidly, I took her at her word.

One day I told her (not in the heat of battle, we weren't fighting, and the behaviour wasn't directed at me) that with that statement, she sounded just like her mother.

There wasn't a fight to start with, but there certainly was after those few words.

Was she English? JK. Too bad our new 'free health care' doesn't include Dental work...

I usually do my best to help out but I'll ask them if they need any help. If they are stubborn enough to say no and still mess up my hands are clean.

I went so far as to lead a woman to a highway as I had given her directions once before and literally 10 minutes later she comes pulling into my friends shop again saying she couldn't find it. So I escorted her to a bar that is right before(LITERALLY) the on ramp to 208 in Hawthorn NJ. I told her, as soon as you pull out of this parking lot make a quick right onto 208 and go south until it merges with 4 and you will the GS Plaza sign.

What does she do? She pulls out and goes straight, into Wycoff(basically going for 2 miles down a road). -__-

Waste of my time.

Hah, reminds me of the one commercial where a lady is changing her tire, but doesn't use a jack and is on an overpass. She takes the lugs off and tries to pull on the tire and falls off the overpass.

I'm surprised he noticed the fluids and such. It must have been at chest height.
