How many blenders do we have?

Hello and how many of you folks are like me and Mongo161 and are brave enough to blend oils together? I have on deck a blend of Mobil 1 0W40, with some Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40, and if I dont use the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck, I will use some Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 instead. In the past I have used some Pennzoil Ultra 5W20, with some Rotella 10w30 conventional in my 91' chevy truck. I plan to put a blend of Rotella gray jug T5 10W30 and some Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W20 in the truck next oil change with a napa gold filter. I dont want to hear the naysayers, and snake charmers opinions on this also, so if you dont blend, dont like to blend or think its "stupid", then dont reply.

Have not done it yet. I am going to use 4qts NAPA syn 5W30 and 3qts NAPA syn 5W20 to make 5W25 according to the Widman chart.
I just don't like the 5W20 in a HEMI. I know others have run many, many miles in their Hemi Ram's, but it makes me nervous.
The 5W25 shouldn't hurt the MDS system, 1 bottle of STP didn't.
I know, I know, sorry I can't leave stuff alone. The engine got alot quieter and has stayed that way. We'll see what the blend does.

Just use an 0 or 5/30.

Very true! Not sure if potential blenders like reading but this is a very good article:
M&L article on mixing oils.
If you must blend for some reason that is beyond normal oil orientated comprehension, only mix oils of the same type, so if you want a Mobil 1 5w25, then mix Mobil 1 5w20 and Mobil 1 5w30.

I thought 5-20 + 5-30 = 10-50.

Multiple articles have pointed out the incompatibility of some additives, other additives do not work well with certain base stocks.

Since about 1996 I have not bought or used any oil except Mobil 0W20. Makes life simple, no wasted space with oddball cans of oil, and about 700,000 miles put on our cars with no sign of any engine wear. Whats not to like?

Thanks to you and Johnny I tried Mobil 1 0w20 and find no reason to change anything. Thanks again for your advise.

5 qts Mobil 1 5w30 + 1 qt of either Mobil 1 Extended Performance 10w30 or 1 qt Mobil 1 0w40.

Once I mixed 5qts of gtx hm, 1 qt of Quaker State Conventional and a qt of mmo for a fill in my f150.

But its dangerous with boutiques. If you mix Redline with joe gibbs race oil two of the additives gel. It will mess some stuff up quick

being in the engine business i see some people putting in only one brand of oil forever and others putting in whatever they find and actually it does not make much difference.

i dont see anything wrong with blending i use 5 qts of Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20 and one qt of 5w30 Quaker State Ultimate Durability every summer and never have a problem i change it twice a year and just turned 252,005 and the truck runs perfect. 4.6 ford 1998 we use it to haul engines and parts for engines.

I used to blend all the time for my Jeep, never blended for my Accord or my 99 Corolla, and am about to try a blend of 3qt Rotella T6 5w40 and 1qt Mobil 1 0w20 in my 2000 Corolla for my next OCI.

I need to assess the internal condition of my wife's 2000 Civic to determine whether the NextGen that's in it now is sufficient or if it needs a couple OCIs of Mobil 1 or the Rotella treatment; it's been abused, so I think a blend may be in order for its next OCI. Since I don't drive it often, I'm cautious to do anything to her car that I haven't tried on my own, since I'm not confident she'd notice (or tell me if she did) a problem before it was too late.

3.5qt Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 and 2qt Mobil 1 0w40 and the truck loves it. Able to run 10k on this mix.
