Drive back to CA went OK. Had a couple issues but not related to the engine. The engine had been dyno'd with the Brad Penn and the owner swapped that out for Valvoline VR1 of which he gave me a new gallon of for my trip. The new engine had less than 120 miles on it when I left his house.
It burned a fair bit of oil coming back which I expected. At 70mph the RPM is 3000 due to the cars gearing so most of the time I tried to go between 60 and 65mph. She used less than the gallon of VR1 that he gave me, I'd say a tiny bit more than 3.5qts to be exact.
I have about 4,000 miles on the engine now and I just did the switch to Redline a couple weeks ago. The car is my daily driver. The oil looked dark when drained but looked ok. No metal in the oil or the filter.
I put a new intake and carb on as well, the old carb was junk and way too small anyway. The old carb was tuned horribly for the drive home but I have the new carb tuned spot on.
