That's basically it. How long do the guys that run GC for extended intervals do it for? Looking for a basic idea guys. I am using the syntec 0w-30 in my girlfirends KIA with a new Mobil 1 filter. I was wondering how long I could run it for? I was planning on changing the filter at 10,000 and both oil and filter at 20,000. Too long??

Green GC is very hard to get. Gold GC may be getting difficult to obtain in some places, but not all.

How many miles on the Kia and what year is it?

More importantly, I wouldn't touch 20k miles on that oil. It's very good oil, but not the "holy grail" that some BITOGer's seem to think it is.

Alot will depend on how many miles per year your girlfriend drives, how much of that is highway versus city driving (stop and go), how many miles are on the vehicle, what oil and oil change interval (OCI) has been used in the past, etc.

I'd follow lazaro's advice and pull a sample at 6k miles. That will tell you what you need to know as to how long you can expect to run that particular fill of GC. Good luck.

DK, it is a Sorrento with 20,000 miles on it. 90% of her driving is on the highway and she goes about 20-22,000 miles a year.

For 90% highway driving for 20-22K per year, I would run an Amsoil EAO oil filter and either try BIOSYN 5w30 or ask Pablo or one of the other Amsoil sponsors to recommend an Amsoil product for her ride.

I'd leave that EAO on all year. I'd be inclined to change the oil at 10k, depending upon the analysis.

There's nothing wrong with your M-1 filter (though, while not having used an EAO yet, I'd trust it for that mileage usage) and using GC. Just be sure to have Terry perform an analysis around 6-8k to see if it will hold up. No offense, but I'm not laying money down for GC, even green, to go 20k.
