How long did your new car smell last

My 300ZX and Accord both still smell like a leather shop

My wife and I bought our cars new and they didn't have the new car smell linger on much like new cars we've purchased in the past.
I think some auto makers use less volatile materials then others. I remember one of my sisters getting a new 2001 Mercury Cougar
when she was 16 and having a nice new car smell. I really liked that car .

Which one do you use? All the ones I've tried either smell like a pool toy or axe deoderant

2010 Mazda 3: can’t remember. Too long ago.
2015 CX-5: two weeks. At two weeks dog got hit by car and proceed to diarrhea all over it from back to front while the vet tried to remove him from the back.
2016 Mazda 6: not sure. I use those air fresheners from bath and body works. Mahogany teakwood. Smells awesome.

I've never owned a new car. I supposed I've never been inspired to own one despite all the fancy marketing.
From the age of 16 in HS, I was taught that ownership of a car is all about turning your own wrenches.
If I didn't have that ability, I would probably feel very awkward (I have in the past felt that way).

My 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe never really had a new car smell so I'm a little disappointed. There's a faint leather smell but that's it.

I'll have to check the glove box. I bought it at Princess Auto here in Canada (kind of like Harbor Freight) but they have a lot of own-branded stuff so maybe not available in WA. It does smell like the scent they used to have in new North American cars. I just hit the cloth seats a few times with it.

I'm not a big fan of scent products, it's the only one I use including in the home.

I worked at the local outdoor pool in the summer going to College. It's definitely not like anything you would smell or we would use at the pool.

Sometimes you think the new car smell has gone, but your nose has just gotten used to it. I've owned new cars in the past where I thought the new car smell was totally gone, but then a new person gets in the car for the first time and comments on it still having that smell.

The new car smell in my Corvette was really strong for about the first 6 months but now I don't notice it anymore. I should ask my wife if she still smells it, as she doesn't go in it as often as me, and she really dislikes the new car smell so if it's still there she would know.

I have never been able to afford a new car and likely would not buy new even if I could afford it. Anyway I have rented several newer vehicles that had that new car smell. On a few occasions I had to drive with windows down a good deal because the new car smell was so strong. Personally I do not like new car smell. The chemical outgassing of the plastic, the carpet, and other interior components is probably not good for ones health. Still many people must like the new car smell, I have seen those Christmas tree air fresheners with the new car fragrance at many places, so someone is buying them to keep that chemical smell going.
