I use Penzoil synthetic motor oil and change my oil every 3,000 miles. I have read that some of the people on this forum go to 5,000 miles. Most of my driving is on highways( about 85 miles a day) and am wondering if I could get by changing the oil every 5,000 miles? I drive a 4 cylinder Nissan pickup if that matters at all. Thanks.
I found this forum by looking for information on the Supertech oil filters at Wal-Mart. It seems as though the general consensus is good. Would this filter hold up to 5,000 miles?

Easily 5k and likely 7500

+1

If you send your used oil to a lab for analysis you might find a 2-3 fold increase in your oil change interval (saving you $$ in the long run and ameliorating any fears.)

Yes you should be able to.

But do you want to?

I use Pennzoil Platinum in 2 of my 3 vehicles and run it 5000 miles. No problems and the used oil analysis comes back very good. You can do 5000 easy. The ST filter will go 5000 as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the info. It looks like I will be saving some money for now on. I am going to start reading all the info on this site and try to become a bit more knowledgeable.

Welcome to the party!

I'm running Pennzoil Platinum 5W20 in my F150 and will change it in Spring with 7500-8000 miles on it.

3000 miles isn't even half life on PP!

Hi there, is this the KA24DE 2.4L engine? If so, I had that engine in my old Altima. Great engine, tough motor that put up with my teenage years. With your driving I'd bet you could go 5,000 with ease. Back when I had that engine, I would change it only when it hit 3,000 miles, which would sometimes take up to 9 months. And it was mostly short trips and I wasn't easy on that car...
