How is the 1.5L Dragon EcoBoost long-term reliability?

Why did they call a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder a dragon? Shoulda been a V8. Unless they are referring to THIS dragon

I assume it was because it was the very last engine developed in Fords engine plant in my hometown of Bridgend, South Wales. And, if you don't know, our Welsh flag has a huge bloody dragon on it :ROFLMAO:

Thought I'd update....now at 240,000 miles. Still running strong. 36mpg on the highway all day. I love this thing. We are going to see how long these things run.
Is this in your ford escape? If so, is this model AWD?

What oil do you use?

My hometown Gorodische, built in 1681, has same color scheme on its flag. These colors must've been very popular back in the day.
Here is how my hometown explains the colors chosen:
-White color is a symbol of purity, perfection, peace and mutual understanding.
-Green color is a symbol of nature, health, youth and vital growth.
-Red color is a symbol of courage, strength, hard work, beauty and celebration.
-Black color is a symbol of modesty, wisdom, and the eternity of existence.

I found this info about the 1.5L EB engine; I cannot attest to its accuracy, but it seems legit.
Per this link, the engine has both a wet belt for cam timing and a wet belt for the variable oil pump.

It does not mention if the engine is an "interference" type; that would concern me if the belt has 250k miles ...

It will be interesting indeed to see how long the belts last in mrjlube's application.

He has the 1.5L 3-cylinder, not the I-4.

My previous company had a fleet of Escapes with the 1.5L I-4 and we saw a lot of head gasket failures (including my 2019). There were so many across the company (Carrier), that upper management met with Ford because of down time costs.

Interesting.
I stand corrected; thank you.
I'd like to understand more about the 3cyl; anyone got a reputable link?

If you google...Ford 1.5l ecoboost dragon... all kinds of stuff pops up. It uses a timing chain but a belt drives the variable oil pump. Same design as the 2.7 ecoboost as well as the 5.0 coyote in the f150s. All these engines use a belt to drive the oil pump. Verified by the service manual at the dealer. Don't really like a belt driving my oil pump.
