I won't buy a black car, impossible to keep from getting swirling and scratches. I prefer a light interior, as they seem less austere and more "cheerful", also easier to maintain I think.

One of the colours I happen to like ... Blue ... results in the lowest resale value. Good by me.
I do have a red car (the Miata) but the higher risk of getting ticketed (look it up) versus the greater visibility to other drivers, I'd rather be seen and not hit, so I put up with it. For a daily driver, a half-ton truck, or some other utility vehicle I would avoid red.
I don't like white trucks, too generic. So, anything but white or red there.

My 10 years old 64k miles 1-owner Blue Toyota Yaris sedan AT base fetched a pretty good price, even with 1 accident on record....

If I buy new, color is very important. I'm going to get what I want - exactly. In fact, that is a quick way to sort through the lot to see if anything will work.
Used, I buy on condition 1st, color isn't important. Case in point: our Explorer. When we started shopping, our preference was just about anything but white. What color did we end up buying> White. Why? Because it was obvious it had been maintained well and had its service records...

Now that I can afford to be more picky I can choose what I like, within reason. Back when I was in college, I didn't care my hand me down was a rental grade, white Chevy Corsica, I was happy I didn't have to take the bus everywhere.

After my first black car, I said never again! Showed too much dirt and every scratch. Since then I've found 3 used cars that were black and great deals, bought all of them. I still say never again, unless another sweet deal comes along!
I've never been in that situation before, but I'd like to think I'd suck it up if it was a used vehicle.
I hate maroon, but if I found a clean Jeep Cherokee or Volvo P2 XC70, I would buy them without hesitation.

I'm tired of the no color trend in cars. I look out on my parking lot at work and 90% of the cars are black, silver, grey, white...
I like the black cherry color that is becoming more popular in cars. I'd consider black or white for the right price but no more silver for me.
For interior, I'd like the saddle color, like the color of a baseball mitt. Or red. BMW and Toyota have some really nice dark red interiors.

The dark grey exterior on our Outback is growing on me, and the black interior shows dirt, but the car actually has windows you can see out of so its not like sitting in a cave.
Anyways to get a trim level with a brown leather interior in the Outback was a $10k upgrade so it wasn't going to happen, and to get a blue exterior was like a $5k upgrade...
If I could change colours for hundreds of dollars on a $30k car I would, but only hundreds. Most OE colours aren't that bad that it would bother me.

Hate grey interior. Cheap looking. Looks like a Rubbermaid garbage can.
Prefer black or Tan or white inside.
Not a fan of Gold or Tan exterior.

I never owned a tan interior car until this Lex. My spouse hates it, but I like it. Especially on a grey and rainy PNW day (which is the majority of the time), it's very comforting and warming to be welcomed with. Especially with the metallic red paint to compliment it.

Now we only purchase cars that are actual colors like red, blue etc.
Finding a red is350 in good mechanical shape was a bit of a chore. But it worked out overall, and when the sun hits it on a bright and clear day it really stands out
