self initiated text atrophies my ability to transcribe text. I used to be able to buffer a few words ahead of my fingers.

40 pushing it. I can use all 5 fingers of the left hand and seem to use only two of the right hand. Backspace seems to be my favorite key.
You don't want to know how fast. Lets just saying the blast radius of 10 suns exploding and annihilating galaxies in seconds couldn't keep up with how fast my fingers are.
I go 0-60 in -10 seconds, the word is typed out before its even thought of!

Bad technique, sure, but it works for me!

I took typing classes in High School. I graduated in 1980. I had not done keyboarding since. Then I took an online class in 2000 and was writing so much that my hands were killing me.
My uncle gave me his old 486 computer to do my work and told me not to start hunt and pecking the keys but use the proper technique. I have learned a lot about computers in the last ten years.
I tested just now at 32 WPM.
