How does Pennzoil YB differ from Pennzoil bulk?

Many of the mechanic shops in town have Pennzoil conventional oil in various grades in bulk tanks.

Is this the same oil as the Pennzoil conventional? If not, is there any common formulation they use for bulk oil and how does it differ from the YB?

Cheers!

I used to work for a Lube Shop. We had bulk Quaker State. There were rumors that the oil was 'unrated' or inferior in some way. The fact is that our shop bought the same stuff that came out of the bottles. I would say that the bulk stuff you are talking about IS the Pennzoil conventional we all know and love.

The only difference in the two would be if the bulk oil was not used for a long time and picked up condensation. In a quickie lube, the oil is used quickly and it doesn't happen. There are many cars on the road with 250K miles and serviced entirely with bulk oil.

Excellent! Of all the people who would know the answer, I figured it'd have to be folks here. :)

I was asking because my local mechanic stocks a bulk oil (Mobil Drive Clean -- good stuff!) that is not available at retail (though Mobil Clean 5000 is available, with more cleaning additives). I was wondering if it was the same way with Pennzoil. Evidently it's not.

Thanks again, everyone.

My chevy truck OC from the dealer bulk valvoline gave a seat of the pants better feel than Valvoline conventional I got off the wallmart shelf. Batch?
