How do you split your firewood?

When in Canada. The 4 ton 110 V unit can do the job with the fir I use.

I've got a 30 ton splitter my Dad gave me. It can be fussy to start, so here and there I resort to the old 8lb maul or the sledge and wedges. I usually end up splitting wood every other year, as I try to stay well ahead so the wood is dry. I have a bad habit of getting logs that are over 30", nobody else wants them. Lots of old Norway maples come down that have hardware in them or punky sections that preclude lumber mills from wanting them.

First year in 55 not burning wood and finding it quite cold feeling even with the t`stat at 67 deg. We have more dead trees than we can burn but having hit 80 with bad joints can no longer do it. Have a Didier 3 point hitch mounted splitter on the l5030 that will knife thru an oak knot that helped a lot for the last 25 years. Enjoyed splitting straight grained wood with a maul .
If it still feels cold with the thermostat there, check your humidity, maybe it's on the low side. If it gets low here, everything feels cold.

I thought you got plenty of suggestions but just not one brand in particular
Well, I was following thread and then it went into boilers, home heating etc. not a single person suggested or said what wedge they use. Reviews on diamond splitting wedge from Harbor Freight weed good, surprisingly.

Harbor Freight sells Weed ?

If your splitting wood strictly with a Maul or Wedge it's much easier to split at natural existing split thats already there .

I think I’m old enough to know this 🤣. J/k, but most of what I split has seasoned 2~ years. Nice workout for me too.
