How do you remove and reattach trim badges?

As you can see my new Scion needs a bit of paint, which I plan to do myself from a can of Rustoleum. Having never done anything like this before I don’t know how these trim badges are supposed to be removed nor how they are reattached after painting. Any help would be appreciated.

I personally think power pro braided line (fine diameter, something in the 6lb area is what we used if I recall correctly) is better than either monofilament or floss, but I've used all 3 with success.

Remove - easy...braided fishing line, goo gone gel professional, plastic razor blade, light polish...

Re-attach...I have no idea why you would ever do that.

It's probably gonna be messy re-attaching... what with adhesive and trying to put on perfect

For the double sided tape badges, on a hot day, with the panel in the sun, I've always been able to pop them right off with my fingers and/or a plastic trim tool. Some WD40 or silicone spray to clean up any leftover adhesive and done.

Whatever mechanical means you use, floss, fishing line, thin plastic blade, etc, make sure the paint around the badge is perfectly clean. Any little abrasive grit will scratch the paint once you loosen the badge. Also, consider using soapy water as a lubricant.

You can remove the old adhesive from the badge and apply new adhesive. I no longer "spam" the board with recommendations regarding adhesives but I will say it's generally easier to get new badges. If you look at your old badges closely you may find they look quite weathered with dull chrome plating. New badges are pretty inexpensive.

Dental floss or fishing line.
If glue residue remains, i use WD40. I spray a microfiber towel and dab the residue. I come back after 10 min and with the same, soaked towel, rub the residue off.

I have also used a steady hand and a pair of pliers to just pop them off...also used a decent pressure washer, which also got most of the residue off - just get a good sharp angle on them.

Dental floss or fishing line like everyone else recommends. For re-attaching the badges, I’ve had good luck with loctite 454. One of my vehicles has had it since 2016 without any issues.

Yeah, that badge will stay on till 2116.

Thin emblems, just get new ones. Thicker, solid ones you can clean and re-tape.
