How Do I Remove This Box in my '02 4Runner?

My blower motor resister has blown (See pic below). I removed it and saw all this trash in the black box that housed it. I vacuumed most of the
pine needles and such out but you can still see junk down in there. I'm gonna remove the blower motor tomorrow and make sure it doesn't have
stuff in it as well (I have heard a few noises lately).

What do you call this black box that housed the blower motor resistor? Is there a better/easier way to get all the debris out?

Blow gun if you have compressed air. Shopvac with the hose in the exhaust port if not

It is the A/C evaporator box. Removal requires emptying the refrigerant system in order to disconnect the lines at the firewall, then remove the evaporator and box as a unit. The system would need to be evacuated and recharged after reassembly. No one would do that for routine cleaning.

With the fan out you will have more access through where the fan was.

Also check the blower motor resister that sets inside the airflow inside the blower housing.

You probably have to unplug it to remove the blower motor .

I have a 13 Tacoma and the problem can be addressed by putting a wire mess over the cold air intake under the plastic cover that surrounds the wiper shafts on the bottom of the windshield at the rear of the hood on the right side .

Do a search on Tacomaworld.com -- search something like Blower motor issues then get lost in the information and you will find the cure (also help keep the leaves out of the blower housing )

I’m carefully using a bent coat hanger to push the birds nest stuff to a place my vacuum can reach. Getting most of it out using that skinny nozzle attachment.

Blower motor was clean. I guess it blew all the junk into the housing.
