iI did not find anything on how to edit my posts using search. I would like to clean up my mis-spellings and also remove a sentence that I afterwards think would be better off not said. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If you do not see an "edit" button, then the edit time has expired. All you need to do is send a mod alert asking that we extend the edit time.

There are two time limits, the first one is for secret edits that nobody will ever know about. The second will have a little time stamp reading "Last edited..."

I find it makes me a better writer, having to stand by my words after 15 minutes or whenever.

There is one time limit for user post edits, that's 2 hours.

Moderators can always edit posts. We do things like remove foul language from otherwise good posts, edit thread titles to clarify the subject, etc. We never ever edit because we disagree with the post, that is strictly forbidden. The moderator has the option to hide post edit or display post edit.

Didn't know that. If a Mod edits my post, I'd like to know about it, and why.
Just ask them in a PM as I’ve done in the past. They’ve always responded in a timely manner. If they were to individually contact each member every time they edit, delete a post they’d be living in front of their screens 24/7.

You should be able to see that a moderator edited your post.

Further, whenever I edit a post I include a note as to the reason. You should be able to see the note, it is not a “conversation” just a note.

If it’s a minor conduct issue, like foul language, or political reference, and I decide to edit an otherwise OK post I’ll say something like “politics“ or “language”.

Obviously, for egregious posts, the post goes away, and then we do have a “conversation”.

I do not fix grammatical errors, or spelling mistakes, unless it is specifically requested by that person.

As Wayne said, we hold ourselves to a very high standard. You will never see a moderator edit post because we disagree with what it said - if the post is acceptable under our rules of conduct, then the post stays, unedited.

But, if you say something with which I disagree, you can expect me to reply and argue my position.

Most edits are to fix spelling errors and we don't notify on those. We see no reason to rub it in someone's face that we corrected a misspelling.

If we remove foul language, political statements, etc. there is always a notification.
