How do I change my Avatar when accessing the site through a browser?

Could someone give me the cliff notes version of how to change my Avatar using a chrome browser? I can't seem to figure out what I need to do

click on your name, then click on your avatar image hit edit.

I can get to the edit screen no problem, it's when I have the option to choose a file that I have the problem. It keeps saying "not valid file type" even though the file size is over 400x400 pixels. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?

File type and pixel size don't have anything to do with each other. Make sure the file is a JPG or GIF (other formats might work but those certainly will).

Yup. PNG will also work.
