Yes, Europe was aging in it's Utopian appeal. All the western democracies were suffering under demographics. The difference being that while we sent our economic vitality wholesale offshore to continually "expand" markets (90% of the population, including myself, had no idea what that REALLY meant) ..they managed their decline in a much more stable manner (until FORCED).
No, there's no magic wand that makes things great, but there sure are ways to assure a bad outcome.
